The Last Family, directed by Jan P. Matuszynski
Thursday, March 16, 2017 – Saturday, March 18, 2017
$16The painter, photographer, and sculptor Zdzislaw Beksinski was a master of so-called dystopian surrealism. The Last Family, an exciting debut by director Jan P. Matuszynski, renders Beksinski’s home life as a vivid and affecting succession of near-death experiences and psychodramatic blowouts, and shows the brilliant artworks that emerged from all the sturm und drang. The film won the Best Film Golden Lion Award at the Gdynia Film Festival and Andrzej Seweryn won Best Actor Award at Locarno International Film Festival for his portrayal of Beksinski. Beksinski’s wife Zofia is played by Aleksandra Konieczna and their son Tomasz by Dawid Ogrodnik.
Jan P. Matuszynski born in 1984, studied Film Directing at Krzysztof Kieslowski Faculty of Radio and Television Studies at the University of Silesia in Katowice and completed the Documentary Course at the Wajda School in Warsaw. His films 15 years Of Silence, After Party, Heaven, Deep Love has won him prizes at festivals in Poland and abroad. The Last Family is his feature film debut.
