Various Small Grunewalds
Thursday, November 10, 2016 @ 6:30 pm
Deutsches Haus at NYU presents Various Small Grunewalds, an exhibition of photographic black and white prints by the writer-in-residence Ulf Erdmann Ziegler.
“Not a stranger to the city of Berlin at all, back after 16 years, I was suddenly a resident of the Grunewald colony, villas and bungalows near small lakes with public access. I bumped into a policeman on my first night walk who tried to tell me to go to bed – instead I began to photograph with a flashlight between two and three o’clock a.m. Gaslights above, SUVs below. Very strange new sleek villas with mad stairways leading to anonymous entrance doors.”

Various Small Grunewalds is a small book in the tradition of Ed Ruscha, 22 black-and-white photographs, designed by Steffen Kalauch and printed by the Bookfactory, and will serve as the exhibition catalogue for this show.
Exhibit runs through January 8.
