The Russian Question in French and European Politics

Invited speakers will discuss questions about the possible influence of Russia in the upcoming French presidential election, the changing nature of French-Russian relations before the election, and possible changes in the relationship to anticipate after the election.

Speakers:
Pierre Vimont, Visiting Professor at the European Institute, Columbia University, former Executive Secretary General of the European External Action Service; Marie Mendras, a political scientist in the field of Russian and post-Soviet studies, research fellow with the CNRS and CERI, professor at Sciences Po Paris, and Keenan Institute Expert at the Woodrow Wilson School; and Steven Sokol, President of the American Council on Germany.  Moderated by Alexander Cooley, Director of the Harriman Institute and Claire Tow Professor of Political Science, Barnard College.

This event is presented by the European Institute as part of a mini-series on the US, the EU, and Russia, and by the Maison Française as the first of two events about the French presidential election.  Other co-sponsors are the Harriman Institute and the Alliance Program.
