The Rise of Populism: Reasons and Responses

Deutsches Haus at NYU presents a panel discussion among Cigdem Ipek, Christian Martin, Jeffrey Goldfarb, and Richard Brooks, and moderated by Marcia Pally on “The Rise of Populism: Reasons and Responses.” Given the recent, seemingly inescapable rise of populism in the U.S. and Europe, and the increasing threat it poses to multi-cultural and cosmopolitan societies, this panel will engage with important questions focusing on the reasons behind the changes in political culture, the role of political correctness and religion, and how to formulate a democratic response to the situation at hand.
