The Forest for the Trees

Awkward but idealistic teacher Melanie leaves her rural town and lover behind for a job in the city. Socially inept and sorely lacking in disciplinary skills, she is ill-equipped to deal with her unruly students and dismissive colleagues. She tries to befriend the infinitely more wordly Tina, her neighbor from across the street, who soon treats her with open hostility. Failing at her attempts to forge both a new career and social life, Melanie finds herself at the verge of a nervous breakdown.
