Saturday Storytelling & Workshop with the Hans Christian Andersen Storytellers
Saturday, October 26, 2019 @ 11:00 am
Just in time for Halloween, Ron Sopyla and Ellen Shapiro of the Hans Christian Andersen Storytelling Center bring some Nordic “not-too-scary” troll stories to Scandinavia House! In this combined event, kids will first hear some tales from Scandinavia and the far North, and then participate in a “crankle”-making workshop, in which they will make scrolls that can be read from a handheld device.
This event is appropriate for children ages 5+. All materials will be provided by Scandinavia House.
Saturday Morning Storytelling at Scandinavia House is supported by ASF’s Lynn Carter Fund.
About the Hans Christian Andersen Storytellers
Since 1957, on Saturdays during the summer, New York City’s children have clustered around the Hans Christian Andersen statue near Conservatory Pond in Central Park to hear his and others’ fairy tales, folk stories, and stories told by a dedicated group of professional storytellers.
When the weather turns cooler, the Hans Christian Andersen Storytellers bring their tales to Scandinavia House.
