Madeleine Dobie is Professor in the Department of French and teaches as well in the Institute for Comparative Literature and Society at Columbia University. Her books include Relire Mayotte Capécia. Une Femme des Antilles dans l’espace colonial français, 1916-1955 (2012). Her current book project, After Violence, is about literature and cinema in contemporary Algeria.
