INNOVATIVE INCORPORATION OF SUSTAINABILITY TOPICS IN THE GERMAN CLASSROOM

Professional Development Workshop with Anja Schmitt

In this workshop, teachers of German get to know the two best practice projects Aqua Agents and Ambassadors for the Environment. In both projects, topics of sustainability (water, consumption, climate, etc.) are made available in an innovative, student-centered and motivating manner for teaching German as a foreign language and for joint project work with colleagues.

WORKSHOP CONTENTS
  • Interdisciplinary project work and possible applications of sustainability topics in the German as a Foreign Language (DaF) classroom
  • Aqua agents and Ambassadors for the Environment: project content, materials/tasks, possible applications in different class levels.

Together we will try out different tasks and their didactic implementation in the classroom.

The participants will receive materials.

ABOUT THE TRAINER

Anja Schmitt is the Language Consultant at the Goethe-Institut Chicago. She advises German teachers in the Midwest of the USA in all questions concerning teaching German as a foreign language. She is a qualified teacher of German and French (Sec I and II) and has worked, among other things, in teacher training in the field of didactics of German at Saarland University.
