How Covid-19 is Reshaping Politics in Europe
Thursday, September 17, 2020 @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
After China, Europe became one of the first major epicenters of the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring. The continent has pursued a range of approaches to manage this public health crisis, from Sweden to Germany, emerging in many ways as a model for preventing the spread of COVID-19. But in the process, the pandemic and the responses have reshaped domestic politics within European countries, and relationships with the European Union itself, prompting a new push toward further integration. This seminar will discuss the public health responses in Europe to understand how the pandemic has rearranged political faultlines within and between the countries of the European Union.
