French Literature In the Making: Raphaël Enthoven in conversation with Olivier Barrot

Raphaël Enthoven is a professor of French literature and philosophy best known for his radio program New Paths of Knowledge on France Culture. While he became an iconic radio personality, he also successively taught at the Université Populaire de Caen, at the Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po), and at the École Polytechnique. He is the author of various essays, including Barthes (Éditions Fayard, 2010), L’Absurde (Éditions Fayard, 2010), and La Folie (Éditions Fayard/France Culture, 2011). A Proust specialist, he received the Prix Femina 2013 for his essay Dictionnaire amoureux de Proust, co-written with Jean-Paul Enthoven.

Olivier Barrot is a journalist, author, and television personality who plays a prominent role in French cultural life. He has hosted the daily literary program “Un livre un jour” on France 3 and TV 5 television since 1991. He also directs a series of public discussions with actors of the Comédie Française on their profession and runs the monthly show “Grandes Scènes” at Théâtre de Poche, Paris. His most recent books include L’Ami posthume, Le Fils perdu, La Revue Blanche, and Mitteleuropa. He is in his tenth year of hosting “French Literature in the Making” at NYU, which inspired his Paris series with playwrights, “Mots en scène.”
