Film Screening & Discussion. The Saragossa Manuscript

Wednesday, October 2, 2019 @ 7:30 pm10:30 pm

Join the East Central European Center at the Harriman Institute for the first installment of the ECEC Fall Film Series, a screening of the 1965 Polish film The Saragossa Manuscript, directed by Wojciech Has and digitally restored in 2001.

Wojciech Has’s psychedelic ’60s costume drama The Saragossa Manuscript features veteran actor and cabaret artist Zbigniew Cybulski (the Polish James Dean) in what was one of Grateful Dead lead singer Jerry Garcia’s favorite films.

“A three-hour swirl of Polish phantasmagoria, […] an epic piece of japery; it celebrates visions and magic by means of labyrinthine storytelling.”
