Film Screening & Discussion: An Aquarium in the Sea. The Story of the New York Group of Poets

Please join the Ukrainian Studies Program at the Harriman Institute, Columbia University for a screening of An Aquarium in the Sea. The Story of the New York Group of Poets. The film’s director Oleksandr Fraze-Frazenko will be present at the event. Organized together with the Ukrainian Film Club at Columbia University.

An Aquarium in the Sea. The Story of the New York Group of Poets is the latest documentary feature film by exciting Ukrainian film director Oleksandr Fraze-Frazenko. It tells the story of the New York Group of Poets, pioneers of Ukrainian modernism, fugitives from the deadly regime of the USSR.

Oleksandr Fraze-Frazenko is best known for his feature films about Ukrainian poets, including the renown “Chubai” and “The House on Seven Winds.” His style straddles documentary and art house, and his special manner of editing dynamically absorbs the viewer’s attention, resulting in truly unforgettable films.
