Festival Neue Literatur

Thursday, March 2, 2017Sunday, March 5, 2017

Each year Festival Neue Literatur brings six of the most important emerging and established writers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland to New York City, where they join celebrated U.S. writers in a series of conversations and readings. 2017 marks the eighth installment of the festival, which will take place at venues throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn from March 2-5. This year’s festival theme, Queer as Volk, will highlight new works that deal with themes of queerness and identity.

The 2017 festival, which is curated by acclaimed editor Peter Blackstock, features the following authors: Jürgen Bauer and Marlen Schachinger(Austria); Antje Rávic Strubel and Fabian Hischmann (Germany); Zora Del Buono and Simon Froehling (Switzerland); and Eileen Myles, and Darryl Pinkney (United States).

All events are free of charge and held in English.

Each year, the festival also produces a reader featuring book summaries and sample translations of the featured German-language works. The 2017 reader will be available for download in an electronic version on the festival website at www.festivalneueliteratur.org in the future.
