Please join us for a reception in celebration of the opening of the exhibit Listen to Silence and Speak: The Leningrad Underground and Joseph Brodsky, a photography exhibit curated by Natasha Sharymova.
“In the late 1950s I met and befriended a group of young artists and poets. I devoted all my time to photography then, and became a chronicler of these nonconformists. They were small in number but extremely active in the artistic sense. It was in this environment that Joseph Brodsky and Sergei Dovlatov developed as artists.”
—Natsha Sharymova
The exhibit showcases photographs by Nina Alovert, Natalya Dyakovskaya, Leonid Lubianitsky, Mark Serman, and Natasha Sharymova, together with photographs from the archives of Andrey Aryev, Kirill Kozyryov, and Nina and Lev Loseff.
