Dúchas: Irish Landscapes and Environmental Legacies
Saturday, October 8, 2016 @ 10:00 am
This day-long symposium will consider Ireland’s cultural and environmental heritage with special attention to the work of writer, cartographer and historian Tim Robinson. Robinson embodies dúchas, the Irish concept of an appreciation for natural and built heritage. Speakers include Irish poet Moya Cannon, and scholars of literature and environmental studies in conversation about the natural, cultural, and historical heritage of Ireland and the role of the humanities in an era of environmental change. The symposium will mark the North American launch of the essay collection Unfolding Irish Landscapes: Tim Robinson, Culture and Environment, published by Manchester University Press.
