Czech Science Cafe: Vojtech Petracek, Nuclear Physicist

[2nd Floor] Lecture and discussion with a renowned nuclear physicists, Vojtech Petracek, rector of the Czech Technical University in Prague. Mr Petracek will present the current directions of his field – the physics of ultra-relativistic nuclear collisions and particle physics. He will also discuss cooperation with American scientific and academic institutions.
VOJTECH PETRACEK received his degree from the Department of Electronics and Vacuum Physics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague, where he subsequently worked as an assistant. In 1999, he joined Professor Johanna Stachel’s science group at Heidelberg University’s Institute of Physics. Since 2004, he has worked at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Engineering, he is a lecturer in the subjects of Experimental Physics, Relativistic Physics of Heavy Ions and Subatomic Physics, the guarantor of the Experimental Nuclear Physics specialization and leads research teams conducting experiments ALICE, CBM and AEGIS. He is also a laureate of the Czech Academy of Sciences Award and holds two Rector Awards from the Czech Technical University in Prague.
