Katerina Steinerova, musical theater actress, singer, choreographer, and swing and tap teacher, recorded in 2015 her debut album “I Love Peggy Lee.” Upon its release, the singer said: “I Love Peggy Lee is a collection of my favorite songs by extraordinary American singer Peggy Lee. I recorded the album in an old-fashioned and unique way using analog technology and was accompanied by fabulous musicians.“
The concert is a part of this year’s celebration of 30 years of freedom in the Czech Republic. In 2019, we remember the events of the Velvet Revolution of 1989 which ended four decades of the communist oppresion. It is fitting that the organizers will host swing singer Katerina Steinerova. Swing music has been linked with Czech history for decades. During the Second World War, swing reflected people’s longing for freedom. This feeling prevailed even during the era of the communist oppression as swing symbolized the free West. Nowadays, swing clubs are more popular than ever all over Europe.
Free and open to the public. Seats are limited, on first-come, first-served basis. RSVP online at eventbrite.
