Celebrating Dvorak and His Circle

Antonin Dvorak’s 175th Anniversary festivities continue with an all-Czech lecture-performance of works by Bedrich Smetana, Antonin Dvorak, Leos Janacek and Josef Suk featuring the violin-piano ensemble G-sharp Duo, with Emilie-Anne Gendron on violin and Yelena Grinberg on piano. Dr. Grinberg will discuss the relationships and influences among the composers, providing an overview of Czech music at the turn of the 20th century. The program includes Smetana’s From the Homeland, Two Duets for Violin and Piano (1880); Dvorak’s Sonata in F Major, Opus 57 (1880); Suk’s Four Pieces for Violin and Piano, Opus 17 (1900); and Janacek’s Sonata for Violin and Piano (1914-15, rev. 1916-22).

Pay at door: $20; Seniors, Students, Czech Center Club Members $10.
