Bohemian National Hall: Open House

Saturday, October 13, 2018 @ 2:00 pm6:00 pm

For the third time, the New York City landmark Bohemian National Hall is opening its doors for guided tours, offering the rare opportunity to see not only the building mysteries but also Antonin Dvorak’s manuscript. Enrich your visit with the exclusive tasting of the Czech wheat beer.

The tour of Bohemian National Hall will take visitors through 5 floors and the rooftop of this William C. Frohne landmark built in 1896 in the Renaissance Revival Style. Bohemain National Hall was designated New York City landmark by Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1994. Careful restoration of the main façade was completed by Czech-American architect Jan Hird Pokorny in 1995. The first phase of renovation began in 2003 based on drawings by Czech-American architect Martin Holub. Interior renovation of unfinished areas, including the ballroom, began according to design of Czech architects Milan Kvíz and Atelier M1 in 2007. Prime Minister of the Czech Republic unveiled fully renovated Bohemian National Hall on October 30, 2008. This year we are celebrating the 100 years of Czech Independence and 10 years of renovated Bohemian National Hall.

Guests can take advantage of the salient opportunity to see manuscript of Antonin Dvorak’s Cello Concerto which is on view for the very first time in the United States.

The Bohemian Spirit Restaurant in Manhattan and Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden in Astoria, Queens, will be participating with an edition of Czech beer Pilsner Urquell, Czechvar and Praga for a special price – pint for $4 – to mark Czech Beer Days (October 13-18, 2018). The best lagers in the world are brewed in the Czech Republic thanks to its exceptional brewing tradition and finest ingredients – Czech hops and malt.

Guests will also have the opportunity to see the Dvorak Room, which is usually not open to the public.

Open House New York is known locally, nationally and internationally for its free Annual OHNY Weekend—an unparalleled citywide cultural event in October that showcases hundreds of NYC’s most architecturally and culturally significant spaces and places, many not usually open to the public, in neighborhoods throughout the five boroughs—and its ability to open doors, providing unique opportunities to learn about, explore and experience NYC’s built environment. The Bohemian National Hall is excited to be a part of this amazing event for the third time.

Free and open to the public.
