An Evening of Nordic Noir
Wednesday, February 1, 2017 @ 7:00 pm
Icelandic author Ragnar Jonasson and Danish author Sara Blædel delve into the world of Scandinavian crime fiction in this discussion of their latest novels.
Jonasson’s taut and terrifying debut novel Snowblind (Minotaur Books, January 2017) is set in Siglufjörður—an idyllically quiet fishing village in Northern Iceland, where no one locks their doors— and rookie policeman Ari Thór Arason is on his first posting, far from his girlfriend in Reykjavik. When a young woman is found lying half-naked in the snow, bleeding and unconscious, and a highly esteemed, elderly writer falls to his death in the local theater, Ari is dragged straight into the heart of a community where he can trust no one, and secrets and lies are a way of life.
Blædel discusses her wildly popular Louise Rick series which includes The Forgotten Girls (Grand Central Publishing, February 2016), The Killing Forest (Grand Central Publishing, February 2016), and The Lost Woman (Grand Central Publishing, February 2017). Blædel’s twist-filled suspense novels have captivated international audiences and her latest novel The Lost Woman is sure to be a hit.
The conversation will be moderated by Icelandic author Yrsa Sigurðardóttir.
